Silver / Gold Daruma
Daruma entirely handmade in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, where over 80% of these Japanese lucky charms are produced. This version has a traditional design and is produced using the skills of Imai Daruma, a third-generation daruma doll maker. Traditionally, the left eye of the daruma is drawn while making a wish. The second eye must be drawn once the wish has been granted, or one year after the first eye has been drawn. The daruma is usually placed high up, so that it can watch over the home in which it is placed.
The kanji ‘fuku’, meaning “good fortune”, is painted on the front of the daruma.
