Handcrafted copper graters that symbolise prosperity
Oroshigane grater in the shape of a crane and a turtle for fine, clean cuts in ginger, wasabi, garlic, spices or vegetables. Each notch is shaped by hand into a copper sheet with a punch and hammer, creating raised teeth rather than holes.
The crane and turtle are recurring motifs in Japanese iconography, symbolising prosperity and longevity for 1,000 and 10,000 years respectively.
