Rice straw grown in the region of Miyazaki and delicately hand-woven by the artisans of Takubo. This workshop is located in Hinokage, a village close to Takachiho, a place famous for its natural sights and its myths and legends.
In Japan, this type of knot, which is very difficult to untie, is often given at weddings to symbolise the strength of a couple. On the wall of a home, it also brings luck and security. The rice straw changes and turns yellow with time, light and humidity.
